Panai Kizhangu is a healthy and nutritional pack dish. Which is very famous in Tamil Nadu. Rich in dietary fiber, i.e. fibers that have high water holding capacity and soften stools. Fiber increases fecal bulk, speed fecal passage through the colon and reduces transit time. Thus, it helps in the prevention and management of constipation.

It will take some time to boil the Panam Kizhangu as it is a little hard. You just need two ingredients to make this Panam Kizhangu. Turmeric Powder and Salt is enough to make Panam Kizhangu / Panai Kizhangu. 


You have to peel off the skin of Panai Kizhangu before you boiling. If you have the Panai Kizhangu as a big one then, cut it off and make a boil. Because it should be covered in the pan. Add water and all the ingredients. Boil it for 30 to 40 minutes and switch off the flame. Once it is boiled take out from the water and peel the light skin and the center portion of the Kizhangu and eat. The center portion will be hard.

Preparation Time - 2 Minutes
Cooking Time - 30- 40  Minutes

Ingredients:


Panai Kizhangu/Palmyra Sprout - 4
Turmeric Powder - 1 tbsp
Salt - 1 tbsp

Procedure:


Step 1: Wash and peel the outer skin of the Panai Kizhangu. Trim the edges. If it is a big one then, cut it into the half.

Step 2: In a pan or pressure cooker add water, turmeric powder, salt, and Palmyra Sprout.

Step 3: Boil it for 30 - 40 minutes and switch off the flame.

Step 4: Once it is boiled, take out and remove the center portion of the Panai Kizhangu and remove the skin and eat. 

Directions:


                Wash and peel the outer skin of the Panai Kizhangu.            Trim the edges.
