Thaen Mittai is a traditional sweet recipe of Tamil Nadu which is very famous during the '90s. The juicy syrup will make you eat more. And it is called honey candy but completely it is done with sugar. Do you think it's too difficult to do this? No, Not at all. Thaen mittai is a recipe which can be done easily and quick. Kids will love this Honey candy. Nowadays it is rare to get from shops. So here I have a solution to your problem. You can make this yummy Thaen Mittai at your home itself with an easy method and less time.
To make this Thaen Mittai you just need a handful of ingredients.
Ingredients:
Rice - 1 cup
Urad Dal - 1/4 Cup
Food color - Pink or red
Sugar - 2 cups
Water - 1 cup
oil to fry
baking Powder - 1/4 tbsp
Directions:
Wash and soak the rice and urad dal for 4 hours.
Strain the water and grind into the batter
The batter should be thick, so add little water to make a batter
Add baking powder and color powder to the batter and mix well.
Then heat pan and add a cup of water and 2 cups of sugar.
Let it boil for 5 minutes and switch off the flame once it reaches string consistency.
Heat oil in a pan for high temperature to fry the Thaen Mittai
wet your hands in water and take a small portion in the batter and make the desired shape.
Once the oil gets heat to add the balls and fry for 5 minutes in low flame.
Once it fried take out and put it in sugar syrup.
Let it soak in sugar syrup for 30 minutes at least.
Once it soaked well take out and roll it in sugar. It is optional. If you like dried one then you can do like this. Otherwise, eat as it is.
