Drumstick Sambar



Drumstick Sambar is a great side dish for white rice. Very Tasty side dish ever for rice. Sambar can be done with any vegetables. But drumstick makes the taste much better than all other veggies. Here I showed step by step to make drumstick sambar.


Servings - 4
Preparation Time - 10 Minutes
Cooking Time - 30 Minutes

Ingredients:



Toor dal - 100 gms
Oil - 2 tbsp
Drumstick - 1
Tamarind - 1/2 lemon sized
Chopped Onion shallot - 8
Tomato - 2
Curry leaves - 1 sprig
Red chili - 4
Mustard seeds - 1/4 tbsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tbsp
Chili Powder - 3 tbsp
Salt to taste.

Directions:

Step 1: Wash dal and pressure cook with 2 cups of water, 1 pinch of turmeric powder, and 1/2 tbsp of oil for 2 to 3 whistles.

 



Step 2: Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, Onion, Curry Leaves and red chili one by one. Saute well.


Step 3: Add tomato and saute until it gets smooth.


Step 4: Now add drumstick and a little salt. Saute well.


Step 5: Add soaked tamarind water and cook it for 5 minutes.


Step 6: When the color of drumstick changes add turmeric and chili powder.


Step 7: Finally, Add cooked dal to the pan and salt to taste. Cook it for about 5 to 6 minutes. If you want more liquid you can add water.


Step 8: Drumstick sambar is ready to serve.
