Snake gourd Kootu



Snake Gourd Kootu!! Snake Gourd Kootu is an easy and tasty side dish. It is a famous dish in south India. It goes well with all types of rice variety. Snake Gourd Kootu can be made by using chana dal or moong dal and coconut. Here I showed step by step procedure for making snake gourd Kootu with photos.


Servings - 2
Preparation Time - 10 Minutes
Cooking Time - 15 Minutes


Ingredients:


Snake Gourd - 1 cup(or 2 snake gourd) 
Oil - 1 tbsp
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tbsp
Chana dal - 3 tbsp
Garlic - 6 cloves
Onion Chopped - 1 tbsp
Curry leaves - 1 sprig
Green Chili - 2
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tbsp
Fennel Seeds - 1/2 tbsp
Grated Coconut - 4 tbsp
Salt to taste


Directions:

Step 1: In a pan add chopped snake gourd, a pinch of salt, chana dal, garlic, and turmeric powder. Add some water and boil for 5 to 6 minutes.






Step 2: Grind the coconut, fennel seeds, and green chili in a mixer jar.



Step 3: Once the snake gourd is cooked then add this ground coconut.




Step 4: Mix well and cook for 2 minutes.



Step 5: Then in a pan heat oil and add mustard seeds, onion, curry leaves and saute well.



Step 6: Add the fried onion to the snake gourd Kootu and mix well.



Step 7: Tasty Snake Gourd Kootu is ready. Serve with rice.
