Sprouts Kulambu
Sprouts Kulambu is a famous side dish in south India. It is my all time favorite dish. I used to do this Green gram sprouts kulambu often in my cooking. Which goes well with Rice, Idly, and dosa. Here I have used green gram sprouts. You can use any types of sprouts to make sprouts Kulambu. Of course, it is a healthy side dish and tasty too. Preparation of sprouts kulambu is quite easy when it is compared to all other varieties of kulambu. Potato and brinjal make the sprouts kulambu additionally tasted. You can add potato or brinjal or both. Here I explained the procedure for making Green Gram sprouts Kulambu with step by step photos. Try this tasty and healthy dish and enjoy your food time.

Ingredients:
Green Gram Sprouts - 1 cup
Potato - 2 Medium sized
Oil - 4 tbsp
Chopped Onion Shallot - 1 cup
Chopped Tomato - 1 Big
Ginger - 1" piece
Garlic - 6 cloves
Grated Coconut - 1/2 cup
Curry Leaves - 1 sprig
Mustard Seeds - 1/4 tbsp
Red Chili - 4
Coriander seeds - 2 tbsp
Cumin Seeds - 1 tbsp
Cinnamon - 1 small piece
Fennel seed - 1/4 tbsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tbsp
Salt to taste
Directions:
Step 1: Heat oil in a pan. Then add red chili, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, cinnamon, and fennel seeds. Saute well until it gets over fry. Make sure it should not be over fried.
Step 2: Now add chopped onion, garlic cloves, and ginger. Make a stir-fry. Let the onion cook well and turn slightly brown.
Step 3: Once the onion is ready then add coconut and saute well for a minute. Let the coconut fry well and slightly chances in color.
Step 4: Now add chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, and salt. Saute well until the tomatoes get soft and smooth.
Step 5: Transfer the fried items into the mixer jar and let it cool. Once it cooled down grind them and make a smooth paste.
Step 6: Heat a tbsp oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Let them crackle.
Step 7: Then add 1 tbsp of chopped onion and curry leaves. Saute for half a minute.
Step 8: Add chopped potato and green gram sprouts. Add a little salt and fry for a minute.
Step 9: Add some water for boiling the potato and green gram sprouts. Keep the pan covered with a lid and cook for 5 minutes. Pour enough water to boil the potato and green gram sprouts.
Step 10: Once the potato and sprouts are cooked, remove the lid and add ground masala to the pan.
Step 11: Add some water and cover with a lid. Cook for another 10 minutes in a medium flame. Your healthy and tasty green gram sprouts kulambu will be ready.
Serve this green gram sprouts kulambu with hot rice. Else you can make it for breakfast with spongy idly or crispy dosa. It is suitable for all these three varieties. Try this delicious green gram sprouts kulambu and have a good foodie time with your loved one.
