Dried Fish Curry/Karuvadu Kuzhambu is a tasty and healthy side dish. Karuvadu Kuzhambu is easy to make and quick to do. The simple procedure for making this dried fish curry/ karuvadu kuzhambu is making it with tamarind pulp. You just need a handful of ingredients to make this yummy and tasty Dried fish curry/ Karuvadu Kuzhmbu. Dried Fish has much variety. In that small to large size, all are available. Here I used anchovy\Nethili karuvadu. It has lots of benefits and best for the curry.

It does not that much big to make a curry with dried fish. The thing is cleaning the Dried fish/karuvadu. You have to be careful while cleaning the dried fish/karuvadu. It should be cleaned thrice or 4th. Then only the sand presents in the Dried fish/Karuvadu will go out. So make it sure you cleaned the dried fish properly. You can also wash it with warm water, but the problem is with the sand the flush of the dried fish will also go away. So it is enough to make the cleaning process with the cold water. 
Soak the dried fish/Karuvadu in the water for about 5 to 6 minutes, then do the wash. For making this dried fish curry you just need onions, tomato, green chili, tamarind, and the chili powder made at home.

Servings - 3
Preparation Time - 10 Minutes
Cooking time - 20 Minutes

Ingredients:


Dried Fish/Karuvadu - 200gms
Tamarind - 1 lemon sized
Tomato - 1
Small onion - 1 cup
Garlic cloves - 1/2 cup
Sesame Oil - 5 tbsp
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tbsp
Fenugreek Seeds - 1/2 tbsp
Curry Leaves - 2 sprig
Green Chili - 3
Kuzhambu Chili Powder - 3 tbsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tbsp
Salt To taste 


Procedure:



Step 1: Soak and Wash the dried fish/karuvadu as mentioned above and remove the head while cleaning. And soak the tamarind in some water for 10 minutes.
Step 2: Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds. Let them fry for a minute.
Step 3: Now add chopped onion, curry leaves, green chili, and garlic. Saute well for 2 to 3 minutes.
Step 4: Now add chopped tomatoes, salt and make it fry until they soften.
Step 5: Add Turmeric powder and Kuzhambu chili powder. Mix well and leave it for a minute. 
Step 6: Filter the pulp from the soaked tamarind and add it to the pan. Let it cook for 5 minutes. Let the oil segregated from it.
Step 7: Finally, add cleaned dried fish/karuvadu. Mix well and cook for 5 to 6 minutes in a low flame. Once the oil starts floating then switch off the flame and serve hot with rice.

This dried fish curry/karuvadu Kuzhambu is the best combination for rice. It will be good the next day also. You can keep it for the next day and can eat. The taste doubles, when it is getting old. Try this yummy karuvadu kuzhambu and enjoy your meal.
