Village style chicken kulambu|Kongunadu style chicken kulambu


I hope most of us favorite is chicken!! The name chicken itself tempt you at any time and with all the recipe of it. There are huge varieties of chicken recipes available all over the world. So we can call it a universal dish. well, apart from all these things chicken is a tasty food when it is cooked in a proper way. Here I have shown you how to make KonguNadu style village chicken kulambu. It is a very traditional way of doing chicken curry. Nowadays instant masala is occupying more space in our cooking & kitchen. Try to avoid all those masalas and make it in your own way, then you will really feel satisfied and tasty recipes. 


I have done this chicken kulambu using viragu aduppu and I used aatangal(grinder made of stone) for grinding the masalas. So definitely the tatse will double its taste. Let's see how to make Kingunadu style chicken kulambu with step by step procedure and also with clear photos.

Servings - 3
Preparation time - 10 minutes
Cooking Time - 40 Minutes


Ingredients:


Chicken - 250g
Sesame Oil - 4 tbsp
Small Onion - 30
Tomato - 2
Red Chili - 5
Curry leaves - 2 sprig
Ginger - 1" piece
Garlic - 3 cloves
Coriander seeds - 1 1/2 tbsp
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tbsp-+
Pepper - 1/2 tbsp
Cinnamon stick - 1" piece
Fennel seeds - 1/2 tbsp
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tbsp
Salt To taste

Procedure:

Step 1: Heat clay pot using the viragu aduppu. Once it reached enough heat then add sesame oil 2 tbsp.
Step 2: Heat the oil and add 3 red chilies. If you want more spicy, add 2 more red chilies.
Step 3: Then add 1 1/2 tbsp of coriander seeds, 1/2 tbsp of cumin seeds, and 1/2 tbsp of pepper.
Step 4: Stir it for 30 sec and then add 1" cinnamon stick and 1/2 tbsp of fennel seeds. Fennel seeds and the cinnamon gives you the good flavor to the curry or kulambu.
Step 5: Add small onion 25 and saute well until the onion gets brown in color. 
Step 6: Add curry leaves 1 sprig and saute well.
Step 7: Then finally add ginger and garlic and saute for a minute. Let it cool the fried onion and masala and add turmeric powder and then grind it to smooth paste.
Step 8: Heat oil in a pot and add onion, red chili, and curry leaves and saute well.
Step 9: Once the onion gets cooked add sliced tomatoes and saute well until it becomes smooth.
Step 10: Add washed and cleaned chicken and mix well. Add salt to taste and also 1/4 cup of water and cover the pot and let it cook for 15 minutes.
Step 11: Once the chicken cooked 3/4th add masala and some water. Let it cook for another 15 minutes.
Step 12: Then the tasty and healthy village style kongunadu style chicken kulambu is ready.

Directions:


Heat pot & Heat oil


Add red chili

Add coriander seeds


Add cumin seeds
Add pepper
saute for 30 sec
Add cinnamon & fennel seeds
Saute for 30 sec & Add small onion
Add curry leaves & saute well
Add ginger & garlic
saute until the onion gets brown in color.
Add turmeric powder & Grind it to smooth
Heat oil
Add onion, red chili, and curry leaves 
Add sliced tomato
Add chicken & salt
Add 1/4 cup of water & Cook for 15 minutes
Add the masala and cook for 15 minutes.
Chicken kulambu is ready
